Tweed is a rough woven fabric usually made from wool. With Tweed the fibers can be woven using a plain weave or twill weaves. Boucle is is a yarn with loops or the nubby-textured fabric made from it. Tweed technically is wool. It consists of hair or fiber harvested from various animals. Tweed is distinguished from regular wool, by its weaving pattern. Most types of tweed have either a twill, herringbone or plain-weaving pattern. Tweed is usually pricier than other fabrics. If Tweed is made up of high-quality natural fibers such as wool, it can drive up the cost of tweed fabric. Boucle fabric is durable. Boucle has a rough, bumpy texture. Boucle feels soft and is warm. The downside with Boucle is that it is stiff and can be a bit itchy on the skin.
From a distance Tweed and Boucle look very similar but once you get up close and feel the two fabrics you can tell that they are different. But both Tweed and Boucle are really great pieces to have in your wardrobe. Since Tweed can be a bit pricey and expensive you may probably want to start with a boucle piece if you don't have any Tweed or boucle pieces already. If you like the Boucle look you can work your way to a Tweed piece or you can start with a Tweed look and work your way to a Boucle piece. You may have a Boucle or Tweed piece in your wardrobe already. So you don't need to go out and buy a whole new Tweed and Boucle wardrobe.
