Wearing A Matching Set - Is it too much

Back in the day (circa early 2000s) it was pretty cool to wear a matchy-matchy set (a matching set - from the top to the bottom matching completely). But nowadays some people might consider it a bit too much or overkill if you wear a matching set. But thanks to the big trend of Spring 2016 now it's a okay again to wear a matching set. During the Spring 2016 fashion shows designers sent models down the runways wearing matching pajama sets (top and bottom) and that trend took off and was all over the fashion magazines, street style looks and all over social media. Once the trend started taking off you could find the look at every fashion retailer from H&M, to Zara, to Mango, to Topshop, Net-a-porter and Farfetch just to name a few. But the pajama trend is starting to die down.

But since the pajama trend was a huge hit in 2016 and is still kind of a thing now I wanted to take a look at matching sets (meaning that the print of the top that you are wearing matches the print of the bottom that you are wearing). Now that the weather is getting warm and is in the 70s and 80s and very sunny in NYC I thought now is a great time to take a look at matching sets for the Spring and Summer seasons.

When wearing matching sets you can go for full on color (the colorful sets) or floral matching sets or if you don't want to make too much of a statement you can opt for the stripey matching look. The stripe matching look is very easy to wear on a regular basis. The stripey look is pretty much a suit which is something that can be worn to work any day of the week. You can wear small stripes or big stripes or colorful stripes depending on your style or the look you are going for. Or you can stick to the traditional black, white or navy stripes. The micro stripes tend to be a bit more safe and is a great way to try the matching set look if it's something you've never tried before.

But if you have tried the matching set look and like the way it looks on you below are some matching set looks from colorful, to floral to stripes and so much more. To learn more about each matching set look you can click on the links below each picture which will take you to the retailer that sells the piece. Then from there you can see how each matching set is styled and accessorized and decide if the look is for you.
