Prescription Drugs Are Largest Single Expense of Consumer Premium Dollars

America's Health Insurance Plans press release ------ America’s Health Insurance Plans released an infographic today, which shows that prescription drugs are the single largest expense of a consumer’s health care premium dollar. Rising prescription drugs costs account for more than 22% of every premium dollar – outpacing physician, inpatient, and outpatient hospital services. This figure would have been even higher if medications administered during inpatient hospital stays were included.
