How To Guide For: Differentiating Between Climate Change --Adaptation And Mitigation
Climate change involves taking practical actions to manage risks from climate impacts, protect communities and strengthen the resilience of the economy. Adaptation refers to dealing with the impacts of climate change. It involves efforts to limit our vulnerability to climate change impacts through various measures, while not necessarily dealing with the underlying cause of those impacts. Mitigation means dealing with the causes of climate change by decreasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere or enhancing the sinks of greenhouse gases. Mitigation can be divided into two tactics, emissions reductions and geoengineering which is the active transformation of our planet’s climate through human intervention. Both adaptation and mitigation are important in the efforts to fight climate change. To learn more about climate change -- adaptation and mitigation click on the pictures below to read the articles.
