If you take a look at your firm and other firms you'll notice that there are not many women in leadership roles. You'll notice that men occupy roles such as CEO, CFO, COO, CTO and other top level executive and high profile positions. According to the Catalyst based on a list put out by S&P 500 in October 2015, women currently hold 23 (4.6%) of CEO positions at S&P 500 companies. Then there is the list from Fortune 500 which states that as of October 16, 2015 women currently hold 4.4 percent of Fortune 500 CEO roles. Why is this. Is it as simple as women being scared of leadership roles or does it go deeper than that. One of the reasons women don't hold leadership roles like CEO is due to the stereotype of what a CEO looks like and women not having the proper support needed to advance like men have, this which can keep us out of leadership roles. According to CNN women are also lagging far behind their male counterparts when it comes to landing the critical profit-and-loss (P&L) jobs that serve as grooming roles for future leaders. These are just some of the reasons behind why women are scared of leadership roles. To get more in depth information -- click on the pictures below to read the articles.
