How To Guide For: A Look At The Rise Of The Online Consignment Shop & How To Buy And Sell From C

A consignment shop is a store that sells secondhand items (typically clothing and accessories) on behalf of the original owner, who receives a percentage of the selling price. I've always been leery of consignment stores in general because the idea of buying items like clothing that belonged to someone else didn't really make any sense to me. I always thought why would anyone want to knowingly buy and wear something that someone just wore. But the more I researched consignment stores the more I learned that most of the clothing that people sell at consignment stores have barely been worn and plus if you really think about it, it's no different then when you go into a non-consignment store and women have tried on and maybe even purchased and returned clothing and then someone else buys it. With clothing you can always wash or dry clean it. Anyway getting back to consignment stores they are really trending now. When I was at Create & Cultivate in LA I was able to meet with two representatives from The Real Real which is a luxury consignment store. But now lately I've been hearing so much on social media and from a lot of the big name bloggers about Vestiaire Collective. Vestiaire Collective is an online site based in France that allows users to buy and sell vintage designer items. So I decided to check it out and it seems pretty good. I was scrolling through the handbag section and wow from the pictures you can't really tell that these bags are secondhand. Also the prices at Vestiaire Collective for the handbags are amazing compared to what you would've paid if you'd bought the bag full price at a say Chanel or Hermes. To sum this all up I think that consignment shops are a great way to get luxury items for less and also a great way to make additional income when reselling your items.
