The main reason millennials are not buying homes is because they are living at home with their parents or opting to rent because there are more renting options available. This helps keep costs down. The Millennial generation has to face student debt which means that getting a mortgage can be challenging. For me the main reason I am not buying a home is that I worry about the down payment for buying a home. Just thinking about the down payment keeps me from even looking.
